SUMMARY:Veteran’s Restoration Quarters Flood Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Needs are continuing to arise after the devastating floods that took place last week across WNC. We have an opportunity to partner with an amazing organization in Asheville\, ABCCM\, to help them clean up the damage they are facing at their Veteran’s Restoration Quarters. \nWhen: This Saturday\, August 28th from 9 a.m.-noon \nWhere: Veteran’s Restoration Quarters (a ministry of ABCCM)\, 1329 Tunnel Road\, Asheville\, NC 28805. Participant will meet there this Saturday morning! \nWhat: General cleanup from the flooding last week from Tropical Storm Fred. Participants need to be prepared to do quite a bit of raking\, shoveling\, and resetting the landscape for the VRQ\, which backs up to the Swannanoa River. If you have them\, you are encouraged to bring work gloves\, rakes\, shovels\, and wheel barrels in addition to some “enthusiastic work hands”. We are also asking participants to proudly wear a Lake Hills Church t-shirt. \nWho: Lake Hills Church members & friends/family (age 16+) \nWhy: One of our 5 priorities is “ministry” and we can come alongside ABCCM who ministers throughout Asheville. We are working to bring help and relief to the flood last week in our area. SUMMARY:Emergency response to local flooding
DESCRIPTION:Lake Hills Family! Today we are heartbroken for all of those in our community that have experienced the devastating effects of flooding in the last several hours. Families have lost homes and businesses all across the areas of Candler/Canton/Clyde. While we want to be praying fervently for them\, now is our time to BE the church! We need your help! \nWe are coordinating with other local churches to serve the community of Canton and other surrounding areas. We have an URGENT need for a team to come to the church TOMORROW morning\, AUGUST 19th\, at 9 a.m to assemble a boxed meal for 300 people. While all the meals will be prepared here in the Family Life Center\, we are also looking for 30 people to drop off an already prepared dessert by 9 a.m. to be included in these boxes. If you can serve in any capacity please sign up here to let us know you are coming. \nHere are the needs that we have:  \n\n30 desserts delivered by 9 a.m.\n30 volunteers to help assemble and pack 300 boxed lunches in the Family Life Center\n\nIf you have a Lake Hills T-shirt we are encouraging volunteers to wear them!
