Serve NC Week
August 3 - August 10
ServeNC is an opportunity for every NC Baptist church to love its community in Jesus’ name through service projects.
We are excited to join in this effort with NC Baptists and Baptist on Mission and commit to being on mission together and display the gospel during the week of Aug. 3-10, 2024. Throughout the week you will have the opportunity to take part in various mission projects in our community. Some of these projects may be at local schools, with some of our mission partners, at homes in the area, and more. More details on the exact projects and locations will be announced. This will be a great week for anyone with any skill level to jump in and serve, kids included!
Below is a list of the service opportunities we will be participating in. Read the descriptions and find one that will work for you. Sign up to let us know you are planning to attend and we will send you further information.
Enka Middle School
Project: Pressure washing the stadium
Day & Time: Saturday, August 3rd | 8:00-11:00 a.m.
Location: 390 Asbury Rd, Candler, NC 28715
Notes: Let us know if you have a pressure washer, hoses, or gas that you can bring to this project. We will need several to complete this project.
Project: Painting the stadium steps
Day & Time: Friday, August 9th | 8:00-11:00 a.m.
Location: 390 Asbury Rd, Candler, NC 28715
Notes: After the pressure washing is done, a second team will go in to complete the painting. If you have rollers, trays, or any other painting supplies, please let us know. This is a family friendly project.
Enka High School
Project: General Landscaping
Day & Time: Saturday, August 10th | 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Location: 475 Enka Lake Rd, Candler, NC 28715
Notes: This is a family friendly project. Let us know if you have any landscaping tools we can use.
Candler Elementary School
Project: General Landscaping
Day & Time: Tuesday, August 6th | 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Location: 121 Candler School Rd, Candler, NC 28715
Notes: This is a family friendly project. We will be mulching and tending to flower beds. Let us know if you have any landscaping tools we can use.
ABCCM Hominy Valley
Project: Build bench seating for outdoor classroom
Day & Time: Tuesday, August 6th | 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Location: 141 Hillside St. Asheville, NC 28801
Notes: Let us know if you have any construction supplies that would be able to be used for this project. This project is at the Costello House.
Project: Pressure washing the property

Location: 1914 Smokey Park Hwy, Candler, NC 28715
Notes: Let us know if you have a pressure washer, hoses, or gas that you can bring to this project. We will need several to complete this project.
Project: Patch and paint walls
Day & Time: Thursday, August 8th | 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Location: 1914 Smokey Park Hwy, Candler, NC 28715
Notes: This is an indoor project and great for those looking for something with less physical labor. If you have rollers, trays, or any other painting supplies, please let us know.
MAPS (now known as Ascend Women’s Center)
Project: Prepare a meal for the staff and serve them
Day & Time: Wednesday, August 7th | 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Location: 1710 Old Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC 28806
Notes: This is a great project for those who are not able or interested in the more labor intensive projects.
Project: General landscaping
Day & Time: Wednesday, August 7th | 8:00-10:00 a.m.
Location: 1710 Old Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC 28806
Notes: This project will most likely consist of weeding and similar landscaping so it would be great for someone looking for something with less physical labor. If you have your own work gloves, it would be great to bring them.
Project: Culvert clean out and general landscaping
Day & Time: Wednesday, August 7th | 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Notes: If you have your own work gloves, it would be great to bring them. Let us know if you have weed-eaters, lawn bags, hedge clippers, etc. that can be used for this project.
Western Carolina Rescue Mission
Project: Painting walls at the Women’s Center
Day & Time: Monday, August 5th | 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Location: 225 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28802
Notes: This will be an indoor project and great for anyone looking for a job with less physical labor.
Project: Serve the Women’s Center (Dessert, crafts, games, etc.)
Day & Time: Tuesday, August 6th | 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Location: 225 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28802
Notes: This project is for women only. This will be an indoor project and great for anyone looking for a job with less physical labor.
Project: Paint and serve. lunch at Abba’s House
Day & Time: Tuesday, August 6th | 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Location: 225 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28802 (Abba’s House)
Notes: This will be an indoor project and great for anyone looking for a job with less physical labor. Abba’s House is a special division of the WCRM for pregnant and new moms.
Project: Serve dinner to the residents
Day & Time: Wednesday, August 7th | 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Location: 225 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28802
Notes: This project is open to anyone. We will prepare and serve dinner at the Rescue Mission.
Klondike Block Party
Project: Serve the Klondike neighborhood through a fun block party
Day & Time: Saturday, August 10th | 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
